Remington Year of Manufacture Codes maybe found on the barrel of your Remington rifle [or shotgun] on the left side, just forward of the receiver; the first letter of the Code is the month of manufacture, followed by one or two letters which are the year of manufacture.

For shotguns with removeable barrels, the code will be valid for the manufacture of the barrel; maybe for the receiver, as barrels do get switched around.

Bob, do you have a link for that serial number place?I was wondering if anyone could help me with a question.I recently will turn 40 and for a birthday present my dad surprised me with a nice rifle. The serial number begins and ends with the letter "V"; would that help?I'd like to know when it was made, can anyone help?? The barrel date code says B o 8 which I assume means Jan/77, this does not make sense being that this rifle was not manufactured after 1962.One needs to be sure that the barrel is original to the gun before trusting the Barrel Code listing, above.(*) On 8/9/99, stopped stamping the barrels with the date code. They continued to mark the date code on the end flap of the shipping box. They resumed stamping the date code on the barrel on 10/1/01. It says it does, but I find no codes stamped on my barrel that look like what's described here.Does anyone know the real list that is floating around....i keep seeing 2 different list with different dates...
